The story of the unfoldment of my mediumship being expressed through Spirit Art is a lesson in prayer being answered. I had never heard of spirit art until I saw it demonstrated while I was attending courses at the Arthur Findlay College in Stansted, U.K. During my time there, I attended a public demonstration of mediumship readings that included Lynn Cottrell, a talented spirit artist and tutor at the college. Amazed by this added dimension of evidence a spirit artist medium could bring to a reading, I commented to my friend (and essentially sent up a prayer to the Universe) on how much I would love to be able to do that kind of portrait readings. Since I am an untrained artist and never really did more than dabble in attempts at drawing or painting, I had decided it would take years of art classes that I didn't imagine being able to take so I worked on developing standard mediumship and essentially forgot sending up that prayer (or dream). It was nearly one year and a half later that I was surprised to have spirit art emerge.
As you read the story below, remember that if one is to manifest the desired answer to a prayer one must: (1) Express the prayer (desire) from a place of love in the heart. (2) Trust that the Universe (or God) will conspire with you to fulfill this prayer in the manner which is best for your highest good (3) Detach enough from the outcome of the prayer that you almost forget that you expressed the prayer (4) Express gratitude when the prayer is answered even if it is answered in a way that you did not imagine. (5) Understand that sometimes prayers are answered in steps or stages, so express gratitude for what has manifested and allow the flow to continue. (If you express disappointment that the answer did not manifest as you wished, you can actually block the full manifestation from occurring.)
Nearly 18 months after I had first seen spirit art demonstrated and expressed how much joy I thought it would give me to be able to do that form of mediumship, I found myself on a journey which had me leaving a good job in Wisconsin and traveling across the country to California in pursuit of my dream to be a professional medium. One spring day I found myself in Pacific Palisades, California, at the Lake Shrine Self-Realization Center. It was a serene place, open to the public and one of the few natural places with free parking in the LA area. While I was seated on a bench in a semi-private garden section of the grounds I quieted my mind with the intention of meditative contemplation, and as I closed my eyes I came to be "face-to-face"or really more like "nose-to-nose"with tiger spirit. The experience was profound and the vision stayed so impressed upon me that I felt compelled to pick up some inexpensive oil pastels and draw the energy. I wanted to show others what I saw and how I saw it.
